Through the 1st season they have had fun references and hints to the horror genre, but this episode puts this haunting genre into the forefront with an extremely entertaining twist. Weather it is the walls oozing green slim, Spongebob’s fascination with working at night, the mysterious man flickering the lights, or the effectively creepy imagery this episode gets what makes a horror fan tick. No joke, this episode introduce me to the horror classic Nosferatu and how this famous vampire is utilized in the story is absolutely hilarious. This episode so especially spooky with great sound design, extremely quotable lines, and the best reference I have ever seen in a TV show period. It has a great spooky atmosphere, it is thrilling, well paced, and the haunting tale of the Hash Slinging Slasher is simply iconic. This amazing season 2 episode is the prefect scary story for a Spongebob episode. However, that episode was only the precursor to my favorite Spongebob episode of all time, Graveyard Shift. The production value in the early seasons of the show were always high, but everything from the great spooky lighting to colors in this particular episode just scream halloween. This is 11 minutes of Halloween fun with an ending image that will haunt any child’s nightmare. ![]() You have some iconic moments like the infamous ghost story that ends with hilarious line “I’ve come for your pickle” and scenes like Patrick freaking out because he cannot tell the difference between a ghost and Spongebob. Spongebob being tried of constantly being scared is a very classic story that invoked tales like the Goosebumps: The Haunted Mask and watching Spongebob and Patrick deal with this problem is very funny. It has the amazing hand drawn animation from the 1st season, it is hilarious, the voice acting is great, and it has a very spooky atmosphere. This is a simple, but very fun episode from this classic series. With the help of his friend Patrick, Spongebob heads to the Krusty Krab dressed as the Flying Dutchman for the some Halloween fright. It is Halloween night and Spongebob wants to get back everyone with the ultimate scare. This episode faces Spongebob with the dilemma that he is easily frightened.
