Cerulli uses Strategic Insight/SIMFUND to create its proprietary universe.įor institutional markets, alternative investments include hedge funds and private investments, including private equity, venture capital, private debt, private real estate, infrastructure, and other hard assets ( e.g., energy partnerships, timber investments, commodities, and other investments such as farmland). If an investor wanted to invest across multiple strategies, they would likely have to open multiple separately managed accounts.Cerulli develops its liquid alternative universe by collecting opinions in an annual survey of asset managers, reviewing various research companies’ alternative categories (specifically, Strategic Insight/SIMFUND, Morningstar, Lipper, and Investment Company Institute), and conducting a thorough fund-by-fund analysis of individual strategies. Separately managed accounts are a high net worth investment alternative, usually offered by an investment manager, that typically focuses on a targeted strategy managed as a separate account for the investor. However, separately managed accounts are typically not known for pooling multiple investments and investment vehicles with varying objectives. The unified managed account is an evolution of the separately managed account, which is similar in that it is a professionally managed account that is rebalanced often. The unified managed account is one of a few options a high net worth investor has for managing their assets. Understanding Unified Managed Account (UMA) UMA providers work with investors to design an integrated portfolio that includes multiple investments, provide support for tax planning, and create an effective rebalancing schedule. It's a type of account often favored by high net worth investors who want a greater range of investments than what they can get with a separately managed account.A UMA is typically rebalanced on a regular schedule, making sure the holdings reflect the correct balance of investments.A unified managed account (UMA) is a privately-managed investment account that can include a variety of investments, such as mutual funds, stock, and bonds.

It appeared with great success in English in 1950, also in many other languages. It was published in Norwegian in 1948 as The Kon-Tiki Expedition: By Raft Across the South Seas, later reprinted as Kon-Tiki: Across the Pacific in a Raft. Thor Heyerdahl's book about his experience became a bestseller. The crew made successful landfall and all returned safely. Heyerdahl and five companions sailed the raft for 101 days over 6,900 km (4,300 miles) across the Pacific Ocean before smashing into a reef at Raroia in the Tuamotus on August 7, 1947. Heyerdahl and a small team went to Peru, where, with the help of dockyard facilities provided by the Peruvian authorities, they constructed the raft out of balsa logs and other native materials in an indigenous style as recorded in illustrations by Spanish conquistadores. The Kon-Tiki expedition was funded by private loans, along with donations of equipment from the United States Army. In 2020 some researchers published research confirming a wider impact on genetic and cultural elements in Polynesia due to South American contacts. There is evidence of some gene flow from South America to Easter Island. Most archaeological, linguistic, cultural, and genetic evidence tends to support a western origin for Polynesians, from Island Southeast Asia, using sophisticated multihull sailing technologies and navigation techniques during the Austronesian expansion. Heyerdahl's full hypothesis of a South American origin of the Polynesian peoples is generally rejected today. This idea has received support from statistical analysis of genetic evidence of contact between South America and Polynesia. Although the expedition carried some modern equipment, such as a radio, watches, charts, sextant, and metal knives, Heyerdahl argued they were incidental to the purpose of proving that the raft itself could make the journey. His aim in mounting the Kon-Tiki expedition was to show, by using only the materials and technologies available to those people at the time, that there were no technical reasons to prevent them from having done so. Heyerdahl believed that people from South America could have reached Polynesia during pre-Columbian times. A 2012 dramatized feature film was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film. A 1950 documentary film won the Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature. Heyerdal’s book on the expedition was entitled The Kon-Tiki Expedition: By Raft Across the South Seas. The raft was named Kon-Tiki after the Inca god Viracocha, for whom "Kon-Tiki" was said to be an old name. The Kon-Tiki expedition was a 1947 journey by raft across the Pacific Ocean from South America to the Polynesian islands, led by Norwegian explorer and writer Thor Heyerdahl. In January 1997, at the annual Macworld Expo trade show, Steve Jobs triumphantly returned onstage as an Apple employee for the first time since 1985, this time to explain what he thought Apple needed to survive and become great again, and how NeXTSTEP technology could help Apple achieve it. Failing to produce one of its own, Apple acquired NeXT in order to make NeXTSTEP the basis for what eventually became Mac OS X. In 1996, Apple was itself in dire straits, and needed to replace its aging Mac OS with a more modern and robust operating system. The NeXTSTEP development platform, renamed “OpenStep,” was ported to other hardware and other operating systems, including Intel processors and Sun workstations. Its hardware business flagging, by 1993 NeXT was forced to close down its factory, becoming a software company focused on custom applications development for the enterprise. Both NeXTSTEP and NeXT’s computers were state of the art, but the computers were too expensive for the education market NeXT targeted. NeXT was founded by Steve Jobs upon resigning from Apple after he had been stripped of power following an attempted boardroom coup. If you have some trouble figuring out how lashes look try looking at yours in a mirror or using a reference! They’re tricky even for me sometimes! Step 9: Draw eyelashes on lower eyelid Try not to keep them too orderly, lashes have a bit of chaos to them with smaller and thinner lashes and groups of thicker lashes together. Now, from the bottom of the dips in that squiggly line, we’re going to use light pressure to curve lines upward. this will be our guideline for lashes Step 8: Curve eyelashes upward It should look like ~~~~~~ going towards the outer corner of the eye. At the top of the almond shape make a line that has dips and peaks. Where you have the tear duct you’re going to use darker shading, this is where your eye socket is so it’s a bit sunken in on most eyes.Īs you follow the curve of the line you made earlier, you’re going to go lighter with your shading, leaving the area between the waterline and the lower lid line untouched.īelow the outer corner, you will add some light layered shading as well to make that lower lid line look like it really has some shape to it. On the eye itself, we’re going to add some shading to the outer corner area and the tear duct area, just a little bit in a curved motion to give the eyeball some shape and definition.īut don’t add too much or it’ll get too dark! Once it’s dark enough you’re going to then add lighter shading along the top of the arcing lid line before moving to the eye itself. Now, where those two lines meet on the lid from the previous step, we’re going to add some darker shading. Step 6: Add darker shading around eyelids Start with the line from the tear duct side, and go up to where the almond shape peaks and stop, then extending just a bit past that line we’re going to make a long arc towards the outer corner for the lid. The upper lid is similar, closer near the tear duct than the outer corner. The line shouldn’t be a perfect curve, it should have some movement to it. Time for lids! Remember where you left some markings of the big circle from the previous steps?įollow that direction for the lower lid, but come up closer to the tear duct. Then, we’re going to add the waterline by making another line below the bottom of the almond shape, but connected at the tear duct and the outer corner. Now, let’s add some depth to the tear duct.ĭarken just the top and bottom of that arced line that closed off the tear duct from earlier and lightly shade the corner, not too dark! Take a darker color in the iris and add little lines around the pupil, and then do the same with a much lighter color. Step 5: Add lines around pupil and details for iris The top part of the iris should be darker shaded than the bottom part. Now that you’ve done that let’s go into the eye proper.įirst, you want to make a little bit of a darker shadow around the eye (inside the circle but along the edge) and then start layering in shading on the top half of it in a half-circle motion (following the contour of the eye). This would be a good time to use a reference as everyone has different eye shapes!īuild out your almond shape to match what shape you’re going for.įor the shading: The big thing to keep in mind is that the lid casts a shadow on the eye!įirst, let’s create a light shadow all across the eye under the lid. Now we’re going to start shading! But before that, let’s define the eye shape a bit more.Įrase a little bit of the almond where the tear duct is to define that downward slope a bit more. Now erase all but a little bit of the eyeball guide on the bottom of the eye, just enough so you can still see the curve. professionally communicate and justify project scope, design, implementation, strategy, and/or outcomes, engaging effectively with diverse stakeholders across a range of industry sectors.critically analyse synthesise and reflect on project management theory and developments, both local and international, to extend and challenge knowledge and practice.determine and apply knowledge of complex project management theory, principles and best practice to applied projects to contribute to the profession and discipline of project management. You will develop both generic and discipline specific capabilities through the expansion of your knowledge and ideas that align with the current and emerging expectations of employers and industry. The procedure usually takes about 30 minutes. This separates the healing platelets so they can be taken from the blood sample and injected into the affected joints. The surgeon will take a blood sample from you and place it in a machine. Injections of PRP have been shown to speed up the healing process in some people, but their long-term effectiveness is not yet known. PRP is blood plasma containing concentrated platelets that your body uses to repair damaged tissue. Platelet rich plasma (PRP) is a treatment that may be offered by a surgeon in hospital to treat tennis elbow. However, it may not work in all cases, and further research is needed. Research shows that shockwave therapy can help improve the pain of tennis elbow in some cases. Shockwave therapy, while safe, can cause minor side effects including bruising and reddening of the skin in the area being treated. You may have a local anaesthetic to reduce any pain or discomfort during the procedure. The number of sessions you will need depends on the severity of your pain. Shockwave therapy is a non-invasive treatment, where high-energy shockwaves are passed through the skin to help relieve pain and promote movement in the affected area. If they're helping, you may be offered up to 3 injections in the same area, with at least a 3- to 6-month gap between them. Steroid injections are only likely to give short-term relief and their long-term effectiveness is poor. A local anaesthetic may be given first to numb the area and reduce the pain. The injection will be given directly into the painful area around the elbow. Some people with tennis elbow are offered steroid injections when other treatments have not worked. Steroids, medicines that contains synthetic versions of the hormone cortisol, are sometimes used to treat tennis elbow. Read more about physiotherapy Steroid injections for tennis elbow The use of a brace, strapping, support bandage or splint (called an orthosis) may also be recommended in the short term. They can also show you exercises you can do to keep your arm mobile and strengthen your forearm muscles. The physiotherapist may use manual therapy techniques, such as massage and manipulation, to relieve pain and stiffness, and encourage blood flow to your arm. Physiotherapists are healthcare professionals who use a variety of methods to restore movement to injured areas of the body. The GP may refer you to a physiotherapist if your tennis elbow is causing more severe or persistent pain. Read more about non-prescription and prescription-only medicines Physiotherapy for tennis elbow A GP or pharmacist will be able to recommend a suitable NSAID. Some NSAIDs are only available with a prescription. This is because they can reduce inflammation and pain without causing side effects, such as feeling sick (nausea) and diarrhoea. Topical NSAIDs are often recommended for musculoskeletal conditions, such as tennis elbow, rather than anti-inflammatory tablets. NSAIDs are available as tablets or creams and gels (topical NSAIDs), which are applied directly to the area of your body where there is pain. Taking painkillers, such as paracetamol, and NSAIDs, such as ibuprofen, may help ease mild pain and inflammation caused by tennis elbow. Painkillers and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) Talk to your employer about avoiding or changing activities that could aggravate your arm and make the pain worse. If you use your arms at work to carry out manual tasks, such as lifting, you may need to avoid these activities until the pain in your arm improves.Īlternatively, you may be able to change the way you do these types of movements so they do not place strain on your arm. If you have tennis elbow, you should stop doing activities that strain the affected muscles and tendons. There are also simple treatments to help with the pain, like holding a cold compress, such as a bag of frozen peas wrapped in a towel, against your elbow for a few minutes several times a day. The most important thing to do is to rest your injured arm and stop doing the activity that caused the problem. Tennis elbow usually lasts between 6 months and 2 years, with most people (90%) making a full recovery within a year. Tennis elbow will get better without treatment (known as a self-limiting condition). This is not only the best Spongebob episode it also 1 of the best episodes ever put on television period. Through the 1st season they have had fun references and hints to the horror genre, but this episode puts this haunting genre into the forefront with an extremely entertaining twist. Weather it is the walls oozing green slim, Spongebob’s fascination with working at night, the mysterious man flickering the lights, or the effectively creepy imagery this episode gets what makes a horror fan tick. No joke, this episode introduce me to the horror classic Nosferatu and how this famous vampire is utilized in the story is absolutely hilarious. This episode so especially spooky with great sound design, extremely quotable lines, and the best reference I have ever seen in a TV show period. It has a great spooky atmosphere, it is thrilling, well paced, and the haunting tale of the Hash Slinging Slasher is simply iconic. This amazing season 2 episode is the prefect scary story for a Spongebob episode. However, that episode was only the precursor to my favorite Spongebob episode of all time, Graveyard Shift. The production value in the early seasons of the show were always high, but everything from the great spooky lighting to colors in this particular episode just scream halloween. This is 11 minutes of Halloween fun with an ending image that will haunt any child’s nightmare. You have some iconic moments like the infamous ghost story that ends with hilarious line “I’ve come for your pickle” and scenes like Patrick freaking out because he cannot tell the difference between a ghost and Spongebob. Spongebob being tried of constantly being scared is a very classic story that invoked tales like the Goosebumps: The Haunted Mask and watching Spongebob and Patrick deal with this problem is very funny. It has the amazing hand drawn animation from the 1st season, it is hilarious, the voice acting is great, and it has a very spooky atmosphere. This is a simple, but very fun episode from this classic series. With the help of his friend Patrick, Spongebob heads to the Krusty Krab dressed as the Flying Dutchman for the some Halloween fright. It is Halloween night and Spongebob wants to get back everyone with the ultimate scare. This episode faces Spongebob with the dilemma that he is easily frightened. To that point, honorable mentions are “Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy V,” “Shanghaied,” “Arrgh!,” “Squidville,” “Sailor Mouth,” “Sandy, SpongeBob and the Worm,” “The Secret Box,” “Dying for Pie,” “Jellyfish Hunter.Spongebob Squarepants: Scaredy Pants and Graveyard Shift are classic Spongebob episodes with a spooky fun horror twist.ġst I will talk about Spongebob’s official Halloween episode, Scaredy Pants. To celebrate the debut of “The Patrick Star Show,” Variety ranked the 15 best “SpongeBob Squarepants” episodes - though there are many more worthy candidates throughout its run. All “SpongeBob” content is available on Paramount Plus, and “The Patrick Star Show” premieres on July 9. Krabs have now received the spin-off treatment with “Kamp Koral,” a prequel series, and “The Patrick Star Show,” with Patrick and his family. The underwater hijinks of SpongeBob, Patrick, Squidward, Sandy and Mr. The show became a staple of Nickelodeon’s cartoon slate of the early 2000s and has won five Daytime Emmy awards, with two for Tom Kenny as the voice of SpongeBob. “SpongeBob Squarepants” has taken viewers to a pineapple under the sea for more than 20 years, delivering over 250 nautical episodes and three feature-length films. It feels like the front wheels don’t want to turn, and then it feels like they want to turn too much. It shares a trait I’ve noticed in many all-wheel-drive luxury vehicles: inconsistent feedback, especially when driving around parking lots. The steering isn’t at the top of the class, however. The Q5 is the only SUV I’ve driven lately that’s surprised me with the power on hand in every situation I kept thinking, “This is going to be the car that gets me a speeding ticket.” That’s not to say it’s a drag-racer, but I’d put it near the top of its segment in terms of acceleration, along with competitors like the Infiniti EX35 and Mercedes-Benz GLK350. That’s usually the result of a good engine/transmission marriage, in which both complement each other, and the Q5 really gets it right. It doesn’t matter if you’re pulling away from a light or passing at highway speeds the power is there. What’s important is that when you press the gas, you get a nice, immediate response, in which I have to think the engine’s direct injection has to play a role. The spec sheet tells you there’s a 3.2-liter V-6 with direct fuel injection under the hood, making 270 horsepower and 243 pounds-feet of torque, hooked up to a six-speed automatic transmission. The high point of the Q5 is its drivetrain. So, yeah, this is not the car for you if you’re the Waltons, but families aren’t the only people who buy cars. It has its shortcomings - it’s not an SUV for large families, and I wonder about an inconsistent feeling you get from Q5’s steering - but it’s also very enjoyable. I got to test a 2010 Q5 during a snowy, wet, nasty week, and I found it equal to the task. On the other side of the valley, where snow falls, thunder booms and all hell breaks loose, the Audi Q5 is quite at home cruising down the road, thank you very much. You can just see them parked under a tree while sunbeams shine down, birds sing and an angel plays a harp.
